The default music player in Samsung Galaxy phones doesn't supports WMA or windows media audio file.

To play wma files on your phone, you need to download new music player. I've searched it on play.google.com and found a lot of apps that claimed to be 'wma support' but I had a hard time finding the right application that would successfully play wma files.

  1. Although highly regarded and highly rated, poweramp didn't work for me ... I ended up with daroon player ... it may not be pretty but it's working for me even when a ton of other players (including poweramp) wouldn't run my wma audio files (seemed to play but no audio sound at all!!)

  4. The android version of my old favorite PC player, Winamp, doesn't like wma files either. The problem is that in recent android versions, the music file database android creates doesn't read all the id3 tag information from the files correctly. Since Winamp (and many other android music players) reads the android database, it has trouble with wma files.

What is needed is a player that reads the tags and creates its own database instead of using the stock android one.

There are probably a number of different ones that will do, but I quit looking at the first one I found that worked: Rocket Music Player.

  5. When people say they got WMA to play are you refering to WMA Audio Lossless. 15 Years ago I was living so far in the boonies I was without internet but I did have a computer and access to an endless CD library. I ripped 6000 songs that I had to manually edit. I've tried a FLAC converter but my album info then comes back all messed up especially a compilation album. Even if I update the album info before hand in WMP 12. I just need a player that will play WMA9's or WMA Audio Lossless on any Samsung phone or any other phone even a Windows 10 phone if I have to. Please Help
